Andrew Murrison, MP for South West Wiltshire, joins local community to celebrate Sustainable Warminster’s third energy advice event
Sustainable Warminster hosted the third Energy Advice Event in a series of five events, where community members received free one-to-one, practical guidance and tips from experts to help save money, reduce energy costs, and improve home energy efficiency. Dr Andrew Murrison, M.P. opened the event, saying it was well-timed given the harsh winter and rising energy bills, emphasising the need to reduce the impact on the planet and energy costs by finding efficient ways to heat homes and reducing energy usage and bills. He thanked and acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved with the event.

The event welcomed a range of organisations providing specialised advice and support, as well as fun activities from Wiltshire Scrapstore and Warminster Lions Club. Among the organisations offering energy advice were Warm & Safe Wiltshire, Salisbury Eco Hub, Wiltshire Energy, National Energy Action, Cranborne Chase National Landscape Dark Sky Reserve, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, and guidance from trained members of Sustainable Warminster about grants for energy improvements.
Refreshments and cakes were also available, generously made by Sustainable Warminster members and kindly donated by Morrisons, Waitrose, and the Coop.
Sustainable Warminster members and Co-organisers of the event Rebecca Krzyzosiak and Amy Darbyshire said, “Our events aim to make energy-saving inclusive, enjoyable, and achievable for as many people as possible. The feedback we’ve received so far is that the advice given has been valuable and helpful – with visitors saying it was worth their while attending. The next event is on 22nd February.”
Sustainable Warminster would like to express its gratitude to Warminster School for creating a special energy quiz. We also appreciate the support from Warm & Well Wiltshire and The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE). Additionally, we thank Warminster Town Council and the Futureproof Local Energy Advice Project for their generous grant funding, which has made these events possible.
