Sustainable Fashion Event 2025

Sustainable Warminster to Host Sustainable Fashion Event in 2025

Calls for Public Donations of no-longer-needed Clothing and Textiles

Sustainable Warminster is excited to announce its upcoming Sustainable Fashion Event, set to take place in early 2025. The organisation is seeking donations of no-longer wanted clothes, textiles, and fabrics from the public. Donated materials and items will be upcycled and repurposed for the event or redistributed locally.

Government research (Fixing fashion: clothing consumption and sustainability, 2019) shows that around 300,000 tonnes of clothing are thrown into household bins each year, however, the charity WRAP says prolonging your clothes life by just nine months can significantly lower its environmental impact. The event aims to encourage the community to give new life to pre-loved or unused items and raise awareness of the environmental impact and human rights issues linked to fast fashion.

Co-organisers of the event Jules and Rebecca said “We’re thrilled to host this event – second-hand fashion is growing in popularity – it is a fantastic way to express your personal style, save money, and help reduce textile waste. By donating clothes you no longer want or need gives them a chance to be worn and enjoyed again. Our free-to-attend event will feature upcycling and repair activities, pre-loved clothing rails, and stalls showcasing ‘slow fashion’. Attendees will also be able to shop for pre-loved clothes and learn more about ethical and sustainable fashion choices.”

How to Donate: Sustainable Warminster invites the public to donate unwanted clothing of all ages and genders, fabrics, and textiles – which can be dropped off at Warminster Library on Fridays over the next six-weeks: 3-4pm from Friday 27th September until Friday 1st November 2024.
